Howdy fellow suppliers and Happy New Year!
It’s very exciting to be stepping into the president’s chair for the Texas Funeral
Suppliers Association!
If you went back and asked 16 year old me as I stepped into my first day at the funeral home if there was a chance I’d find myself in such a position I’d have laughed and then probably run away shyly.
It’s such an honor and a privilege to be in this position today.
Whenever I think about why an association like this is beneficial, the number one
answer I go straight to is the building of a network. This is a social network, of course,
and socializing and hanging out with my supplier friends at various events is worth the
price of admission to begin with. I’m also thinking of professional networking. How many
times have I reached out to or been reached out by a supplier friend for advice on
dealing with a client? Or asking if they’re going to be at an event so we can introduce
each other to our clients we are building new relationships with? This is what I find so
exciting and worthwhile as a member of this association.
As we go into this new year together we will offer opportunities for just this sort of
networking. From a golf tournament, (formerly the Gathering in Wolfe City) that this year will be at Iron Horse Golf Course in North Richland Hills, to marketing and network opportunities at chapter meetings and Emerging Leaders University, we will have the opportunity to work together to grow both our relationships and our sales.
While the information on these events is finalized, please take the time to follow us on Facebook, and go ahead and favorite our website so you can check in on news and events.
Sharing these with other suppliers and encouraging them to join the
association is a great way to grow the group as well!
Thank you all again for allowing me the chance to hold a position in the TFSA, an
organization that has been tremendously helpful in my career and my personal life
(cause frankly it’s really helpful to know I will have a friend at all the events we go to).
And please feel free to reach out for any ideas, questions, or concerns and I will do my
best to make sure this is the best year yet for the Texas Funeral Suppliers!
With nothing but gratitude,
Tom
